Prelude in C Major

By

Johann Sebastian Bach

If you are able to play basic chords on the piano then you can learn how to play a very popular song that is played by all classical pianists.  This song has been recorded on hundreds of records, CD's, and tapes.  If you have trouble reading piano music then you would never be able to play this song.  However, you can still play it quite easy by using my special graphics that show you in detail how to break the chords up into the PATTERN that Bach used to create this song.  Before you start learning the song, you need to learn a few of the rules of this PATTERN.

1.  Each measure of the song (each chord) is played twice.

2.  A measure starts off with the left hand playing just two notes.  Use your left pinky for the first note and your left thumb or left middle finger for the second note.  Keep these two notes (two piano keys) pressed down as your right begins to play 3 notes.  You have to determine which is the most comfortable in the left hand and which is the most efficient to use:  THE LEFT MIDDLE FINGER OR THE LEFT THUMB.  When the bass notes are close together use the left middle finger.  When the bass notes are wide apart use the left thumb.  Consider also using the left index finger in conjunction with the left pinky when notes are spaced making the left index finger easier to use.  You have to experiment and find out what works best for you.

3.  After your left hand plays the initial two notes, your right hand will play 3 notes of the chord.  However, you play these 3 notes TWICE.

4.  Below is a diagram showing you the chord in one measure.

5.  The red keys are played with your left hand.  Your left pinky plays the red C.  Your left middle finger  plays the red E.  Keep these two red keys pressed down as you start to play the 3 green keys with your right hand.

6.  Here is the color code sequence that you would use to play Bach's classical PATTERN:

C E G C E G C E --- C E G C E G C E

7.  NOTICE how the picture chord graphic is played twice.  When you finish playing this picture chord graphic move onto the next one and play TWICE.

8.  All picture chord graphics are played twice.  Except the last two measures of the song.  Bach, stops the chord pattern at the last two measures of the song.  The song has about 35 measures or so.  But, when you come to the last two measures you are going to have to follow the sequence of the color coded keys in the new diagram graphics.  It will all be explained to you when you open up the pdf file or the WORD Document file.

9.  The first thing that you want to do is to listen to this famous classical piano piece at full speed.  So, click on the midi file.  After you listen to it I am sure you will be excited about learning how to play this song.  It will be easy for you even if you cannot read music, because I do not use music notation to teach you this song, I am using picture graphics.

10.  Next, you need to listen to this song played at half speed.  At half speed you can better differentiate the chords and how they are played with this pattern.

11.  Now, it's time for you to go to work and learn this famous piano song.  People will be surprised to hear you play it in front of them.  You can open up the WORD DOCUMENT to print the graphics.  Or you can open up the PDF FILE and print up the graphics.  However, instead of using the picture graphics of this song, you can print up the actually music notation that uses "letter" notes.  If you know just a little bit about reading music, then you can use these letter notes to quickly learn this song.  Here is the PDF File of the letter notes.  Here is the audio rendition of this song on YouTube.

12.  When you learn to play this song you will realize that a lot of music is based upon patterns.  You can learn hundreds of piano accompaniment patterns by ordering by Piano Secret Websites for $20.
