THE HORSE AND RIDER

( The Song Of Moses )

I love this song.  I remember learning this song at Trinity Fellowship church in San Antonio, under Pastor Randolph.  That was back in the 1970's.  Pastor Randolph would get up there on the platform and start singing this song and the entire congregation would be standing and clapping as they sang this God Anointed song.  This song deserves an A plus.  I guarantee any song leader who presents this song in congregational worship service will be able to get full group participation in singing.  There is just something about this song that makes even the most resistant to want to sing and clap their hands.

Exodus 15: 1-17, "Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying: "I will sing to the Lord, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!  The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation;  He is my God, and I will praise Him;  My father's God, and I will exalt Him.  the Lord is a man of war; The Lord is His name.  Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea;  His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea.  The depths have covered them; They sank to the bottom like a stone........"

HERE IS A GUITAR LESSON ON PLAYING THIS SONG:

Children love to sing this song in Sunday school.  Sunday school teachers frequently bring their guitars to class nowadays.  This would be an excellent song to teach the kids in conjunction with the felt picture boards.  You can download the piano accompaniment of this song by clicking onto this pdf file.

The next pdf file that a piano teacher  or piano student might want to download is here.  This little piano solo, breaks the left hand up into a real easy pattern.  Any level 2 student should be able to play it.  Listen to the midi file.

If you want just the lead sheet music to it, then click here.

To listen to the melodic line played against the above accompaniment click onto this midi file.  Listening to the midi file will help you to play all aspects of this song.

I bought this video in the Bible book store called "The Exodus Revealed".  Christian Geologists and Archaeologists have discovered the point in the Red Sea where Moses and the Children of Israel crossed.  The underwater photography in the video is really interesting because the video shows the wheels of Pharoah's chariots encrusted with mineral deposits and other marine materials.  The wood has dissolved over the years, but you can actually see the outlines of the axels and wheels.  There is no place in the oceans like this.  You can read about it at this website:

Happy Singing and Praising The Lord.
