NASHVILLE PIANO STYLE MADE FAMOUS BY
FLOYD CRAMER

Watch this VIDEO LESSON on how to play the COUNTRY style piano SLIP NOTE or GRACE NOTE.  The video clip is of very low quality.  The reason for that is that it takes up less memory and allows you to download it fast and to watch it in your windows media player.  If you shrink the size of your windows media player the quality of the video improves.  The audio is of low quality also, but you can hear me and hear the keyboard quite well.  VIDEO CLIP OF COUNTRY GRACE NOTE

In this VIDEO LESSON I will show you how to play a simple Nashville Piano lick or "riff".  To understand the logic of this lick all you have to know is that your right hand little finger starts the riff out on the same note that is the same name of the chord that you are playing under.  For example, if the chord is C major, then put your right hand little finger on a C note.  Then your target note or the ending note will be another C which is an octave below your starting C note.

Watch me in this VIDEO LESSON demonstrate how to take the slip note or the grace note, plus the Nashville Piano "riff" or "lick" and add it to a simple piano accompaniment pattern.  I will be singing a real easy song, "God Is So Good" so that you have easy chords and an easy melody to practice with.  As I sing this song, I am using the easy to play BALLAD piano accompaniment pattern mixed with the slip note and the piano "lick".  WATCH VIDEO PIANO LESSON

In this demonstration lesson I want you to listen to how I used the slip notes and the Nashville lick in our easy "work" song "God Is So Good".  CLICK ON THE MP3 FILE TO HEAR THE LESSON

One more VIDEO DEMONSTRATION of these two easy Nashville piano techniques:  in this demonstration I am going to show you how to use the slip note or the country "twang" as some people call it and also the country lick we have been working with in the setting of a piano solo.  WATCH VIDEO PIANO LESSON
